In 1991, my dad and I arrived at Heathrow (from San Francisco), and Robin met us with a beaming, welcoming smile and bright, laughing  eyes ... holding up a newspaper with the cover page "Di's Soak Opera": a photo of Princess Diana smiling and drenched from a downpour at a Pavarotti outdoor concert.  During that same trip, comedically aghast that I had travelled to England without any sort of raincoat, Robin took me to Harrod's to find me a proper "mac" so I could comfortably weather our 3-week visit.  Being an American girl, I'd never heard the term before but I felt very worldly once Robin had taught it to me!  I still vividly remember the "mac" we found: a soft, olive green overcoat with a deep burgundy plaid lining and scarf.
